What sororities are top tier? ›

Students interested in joining a fraternity or sorority must have completed a minimum of 12 academic units at USC and earn a minimum USC grade point average of 2.50.

Fraternities and sororities are an integral part of USC since their beginning in 1889. Founding principles of academics, civic engagement, leadership, cultural understanding, and well-being are the guiding values in which chapters strive for locally and nationally.

There are four major sororities, all of which were established in early twentieth century, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (Howard University, 1908), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (Howard University, 1913), Zeta Phi Beta Sorority (Howard University, 1920), and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority (Butler University, 1922).
