What has been done to support the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing this year? (2024)

The EU-funded Innovation Networks for Active and Healthy Ageing (IN-4-AHA) Coordination and Support Action has been supporting the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing since the beginning of 2021. Here is a wrap-up of the different activities so far.

Innovation Networks for Active and Healthy Ageing (IN-4-AHA) is an EU-funded Coordination and Support Action (CSA) that contributes to the cross-border scale-up of tested and ready-to-use applications in health and social care and supports the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing. The project will bring together both the support and the demand sides as well as the end-users, engage with local and regional ecosystems, stakeholder groups and organisations. The main outcome of this cooperation is an innovation scale-up model that is validated by stakeholders and complemented by a clear implementation roadmap, an innovation impact evaluation toolkit and a strategy for long-term investments.

Webinars and stakeholder workshops in 2021

Over the past 8 months, IN-4-AHA has organized numerous events, stakeholder workshops and Focus Groups to engage with a wide range of stakeholders in the innovation and ageing domain. The recordings of the events have now been published on YouTube.

Demographic change is one of the key challenges Europe is facing and will continue to face in the next decades, and it is essential to implement better policies, programmes and practices to allow in this field to reach the end-user. Over the next two years, the IN-4-AHA consortium wants to support the supply and demand sides in implementing scaling up strategies for innovative solutions, while continuilng to support the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing. In this workshop we invited stakeholders to learn more about IN-4-AHA project and to discuss with us the strategic priorities going forward but, also, reflect on past successes and lessons learnt from previous projects in this area.

This webinar aimed to discuss the concept of living labs and hear from existing examples on the pros, cons, and challenges of these open-innovation structures. The webinar also presents the Living Lab Call supported by the IN-4-AHA project and discuss its next steps.

This webinar aimed to discuss ongoing and current efforts in connected networks across Europe which aim to increase innovation uptake but, at the same time, also reflect on their main difficulties and gaps.

This webinar aimed to discuss ongoing projects working in the empowerment of senior or aging citizens through the introduction of new technologies and digital solutions.

Rethinking the scale-up model for innovation in AHA- Stakeholder Involvement Workshop - 9 June 2021 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJWhNJJi3vo

This workshop is a starting point to rethink the model for an efficient scaling-up of innovation in AHA. Firstly, an expert from Empirica shared her expertise with regard to innovation challenges and stakeholders’ expectations. Thereafter, the workshop participants chose between three different breakout rooms to engage in deeper discussions on the key elements of the scale-up model: stakeholders, living labs and investments.

In this stakeholder workshop we analyzed the investment world of Active and Healthy Ageing (AHA). How can we describe the current situation and who are the main players in the market? Is investing into AHA products/services appealing? The workshop started with an overview of the current state of investments in the field. Thereafter, we listened to the investor´s approach to AHA business models. What are the key factors to attract investors´ attention?

Are companies, service providers, or other institutions assessing impact for their innovations? What are the drawbacks and limitations felt? How can we improve? This webinar aimed to discuss the survey of stakeholders the IN4AHA consortium promoted regarding impact assessment of innovation but also what models and tools exist for this same purpose.

This webinar presented selected good practices from our Good Practices Month initiative, aiming to showcase some of the innovation shared in this period on the Futurium platform. And as usual, we addressed which gaps and difficulties existing in finding and sharing these innovative practices.

In May 2021, the Innovation Networks for Scaling Active and Healthy Ageing (IN-4-AHA) organized a focus group activity in Galicia (ES). The event was organized by the Galician Health Cluster (CSG) and aimed to discuss the accessibility of technological solutions for active and healthy ageing. Find more information here.
